Customised Kids' T-shirts...

On a long Summer Break, you might need a little help keeping your kids amused. So, Dremel have come up with a project you can do with your children. Get your kids to help customise their T-shirts and create really fun, unique Summer looks they'll love.

It's disposable fashion for the beach - and to take advantage of all that sun, we're giving you three designs made using hot fix stones in great patterns. All you have to do is to simply buy the items listed below and then follow our instructions. Your kids are guaranteed to sparkle this Summer!

Materials required :

Dremel Versatip with hot blower head & soldering tip
Basic T-shirts
Masses of hot fix stones in different sizes
Fabric marker pen
Fabric paint
Foam brush

Step One

Draw your design onto paper, cut it out and pin it in position on the front of the T-shirt. Draw around your design using a fabric marker pen, then remove the template and add any details within the shape that your design requires. For example, on one T-shirt draw a sandcastle with turrets and windows, on the second, draw a shoal of fish leaping from the sea, on the third, draw a bikini on top of the T-shirt. Or draw a shell, or the sun, or choose a design of your own.

Step Two

Using fabric paint, dab colour within the outlined shape using a foam brush. Follow the instructions provided on the fabric paint to fix the fabric dyes.

Step Three

Then start, carefully, placing the hot fix stones onto your design. When you are ready, take the Dremel Versatip with the hot blower head and hold over each stone to fix them in place.  Use the Versatip with soldering tip to fix the smaller stones to avoid burning the T-shirt fabric.  Build up your design with more and more hot fix stones until you have finished your sparkling design.

The Versatip is a cordless six-in-one heat tool. It's great for heat embossing, hot fix stone decoration, soldering, melting, shrinking, pyrography (woodburning) and hot cutting. It's the only heat tool that combines a multitude of applications in one tool, thanks to its ability to use six interchangeable tips.

Step Four

Stand back and admire all three of the finished T-shirts that you and your children have created. There'll be no shortage of takers for these creative gems this Summer!
