London, 6 May 2010: The UK’s Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has implemented StepStone Solutions’ talent acquisition (e-recruitment) solution to handle the online recruitment for the 500 vacancies the council advertises each year. Having launched the first phase of the system in February 2010, StepStone has already enabled the council to consolidate several separate recruiting systems down to one and is expected to help the council cut its recruitment advertising spend by 20 per cent over the year.

The council now uses StepStone Solutions’ e-recruitment platform to publish every vacancy to its job board, By tracking where successful candidates come from, and focusing its advertising in these areas, as well as using talent pools, it hopes to reduce its media spend by 20 per cent. In addition the system will unlock efficiencies for both the council’s HR function and hiring managers by consolidating its legacy recruitment systems and streamlining tasks, such as allowing candidates to book their own interview slots online.

By the end of 2010, the council also plans to roll out StepStone Solutions’ onboarding module, so it can issue successful candidates with contracts and other new starter documentation electronically while providing a more consistent joining experience. It further plans to integrate StepStone Solutions’ system with a psychometric testing platform – enabling a seamless experience for the candidate as well as reducing administration internally.

Keeley Cooper, Recruitment Manager at the Royal Borough explains: “We’re delighted with the rapid improvements StepStone Solutions’ e-recruitment platform has brought. What we have in place is a flexible solution that will help us make more informed choices about how to find the right candidates for our vacancies and will significantly reduce the time our hiring managers spend on recruitment administration. StepStone Solutions’ ability to incorporate our existing psychometric testing technology is an added bonus – it means we make our recruitment even more candidate-friendly and responsive.”

Matthew Parker, Group Managing Director of StepStone Solutions, comments: “Like many public sector organisations, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is under pressure to generate cost efficiencies. The reductions in recruitment administration we can help the council achieve will equate to huge cost savings as well as improving its appeal to prospective candidates. We’re looking forward to working with the Royal Borough as it rolls out our onboarding module and further integrates our talent management technology into its operations.”
