Brecon Beacons National Park Authority and Powys County Council are celebrating World Environment Day this year with a huge ONE DAY festival taking place on the Brecon Promenade, Tuesday 1st June from 10:00am to 3.00pm.

Set on the stunning Brecon Promenade, overlooking the River Usk, hundreds of visitors are expected to flock to the festival to help celebrate this year’s theme ‘Many species. One planet. One future.’

Tents and marquees are set to line the riverside, where visitors will be able to explore how they can help the planet, the National Park and their lifestyles. With over a dozen different organisations and community groups attending, the festival will embrace everything from local food and cookery to energy advice and recycling tips. You can even meet Bluebell, the new electric car from Talybont or find out how hydro power could help you.

There will also be thought-provoking environmental discussions taking place, lots of FREE children’s entertainment (including face painting and a bouncy castle), community arts projects, great food and drink from Pilgrim’s Tearooms and live music from ‘The Dolphins’

Jemma Bere, Sustainable Communities Officer for Brecon Beacons National Park Authority said: “There is an astounding array of free activities taking place on World Environment Day at the Brecon Promenade this year. It’s a day that the whole family can enjoy and a great opportunity for visitors to the National Park to explore how individual 'greener' lifestyle choices such as composting and recycling, using energy efficient light bulbs and electric cars can contribute to a better environment in our National Park. We hope to attract as many people as possible who want to come along, relax and enjoy the atmosphere and leave here feeling inspired to make a difference to the world around them.”

The ONE DAY festival is organised and funded by Powys County Council and Brecon Beacons National Park Authority, with support from CCW, Glasu, PEP, Powys Sense, The Talgarth Mill Project, Arts Alive, Brecknock and Powys Federation of Women’s Institutes, The Green Valleys, Talybont Energy and Pilgrim’s Tearooms.
