The Cairns Cup Carnival 2010 is coming to the Australian city towards the start of next month, featuring its famous Ladies Day.

Held at Cairns Jockey Club's Cannon Park track, the event runs for three days - between August 6th and 8th - with the Ladies Day taking place in the middle of these dates.

Girls who fancy getting glammed up at their Cairns hotels before checking out the festivities will be able to enjoy a packed agenda, with organisers promising a healthy dose of glitz and sparkle to complement the busy racing programme.

One of the major focuses of this year's event is 'Fashion on the Field', with women who are planning to attend being urged to make a real effort by dressing to impress.

"Not only do the ladies dress to the nines, they also [provide] a visual spectacle at least equal to the efforts of the horses on the track," the organisers remarked.

As well as all the dressing up, some tense racing action is likely as jockeys battle it out for a share of the A$250,000 prize pool.

Those who want the chance to rub shoulders with the rich and famous at the event can book VIP tickets, which are priced at A$110 for the Saturday and A$90 for the following day. features a variety of cheap hotels in Cairns, including The Lakes Cairns Resort and Spa.
