Music fans may be tempted to book Bournemouth hotels for Jonsi's performance in September.

Best known as the lead singer and guitarist of Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Ros, the 35-year-old released his first solo album Go in April this year and promptly embarked on an extensive world tour.

He is due to arrive at the O2 Academy in Bournemouth on Monday September 13th, giving fans plenty of time to familiarise themselves with the new material.

As Sigur Ros are now said to be taking an indefinite hiatus, the concert could be the last chance for people on the south coast to see the 35-year-old musician perform live for some time.

Go, which features production and string arrangements by American composer Nico Muhly, was described by Clash magazine earlier this year as the best album of Jonsi's career.

The publication praised the record's "gorgeous, glitchy and complex sonic landscape", while picking out fourth track Boy Lilikoi as "an absurdly lovely piece of music".

Tickets for Jonsi's Bournemouth gig are priced at £18.50 and doors will open at 19:00 BST.

Other artists due to perform at the O2 Academy this year include MGMT, Crystal Castles and Manic Street Preachers.

For more information on this event visit the O2 Academy website or contact the venue on 0844 477 2000.
