In its Far East Collection brochure for 2010/2011, just launched, Hayes & Jarvis (0871 664 0246) has introduced three new destinations - Macau, Lombok and Laos - and greatly expanded its programmes to both Japan and Indo-China. At the same time the long haul specialist’s established Thailand and Malaysia product range has been extended into new resort areas and a tailor-made approach has been taken with China.
Hayes & Jarvis Programme Director Lesley Rollo said: “We have taken a top to bottom approach in reviewing and extending our offer to customers in every Far East destination feature. This is because we see tremendous potential for the region after unprecedented growth in all areas in recent years.”
New: the introduction of programmes to Macau, Lombok and Laos reflect the popularity this year of Hong Kong, Bali and Indo-China respectively. In Macau Hayes & Jarvis has devoted a page to spotlighting four hotels, primarily to twin with Hong Kong, and will also offer the destination as a day tour from Hong Kong.
Lesley Rollo said: “Although we expect Macau to work best as a twin centre with Hong Kong, we are featuring four contrasting properties for clients who want to concentrate exclusively on the destination. As a place where east meets west and ancient UNESCO heritage sites stand side-by-side with modern Vegas style casinos and malls, we expect the island to have a strong appeal.”
Seven-night room only packages combining five at the Metropark Kowloon, Hong Kong with two at the Holiday Inn, Macau cost £1,119 per person in September including return scheduled Virgin flights.
New: On Lombok, two hotels on Senggigi Beach – the Sheraton Senggigi (from £33pppn) and the boutique Qunci Villas (from £34pppn) – and a third on Medana Beach - the five-star Oberoi Lombok (from £115pppn) - come into the Far East programme. Ideal for couples and honeymooners, Lesley Rollo says that Lombok “is a romantic destination – under-developed, laid back, natural and with great scenery.”
New: The introduction of a six-day Magic of Laos tour, based around Vientiane and Luang Prabang (from £699pp), is part of a broader strategy to boost the Indo-China programme launched in 2009. In addition to offering more short tours, a wide range of hotels in Cambodia (in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh) and Vietnam (in Hue, Hanoi, Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Danang and resorts near Hoi An) are also included.
Expanded: Hayes & Jarvis has boosted its Japan programme with the aim of attracting clients who want to tailor-make trips or create a twin-centre holiday. Two-night Tokyo Highlights and Kyoto Highlights mini-packages and a range of excursions from both cities are introduced to facilitate tailor-made requests. In addition, a new seven-day Japan Discovery tour that includes Hiroshima (from £2,109pp and also featuring Tokyo and Kyoto) augments the existing Treasures of Japan itinerary.
Meanwhile Hayes & Jarvis will also run a more extensive tailor-made programme to China for 2010/11, to run alongside the established tours.
Expanded: New resorts in Thailand include Trat and Koh Phangan, the latter offering two high grade hotels (four-star Centara Pariya from £56pppn and five-star Rasananda from £116pppn). One of its Exclusive Collection of luxury hideaways, Rasananda has a beachside position on the other side of the island from Haad Rin, location for the notorious Full Moon Party.
Expanded: In Malaysia Hayes & Jarvis is focusing on a new range of Island Hideaways that include secluded beach retreats on the less-developed east coast of Malaysia. Of six Island Hideaways featured, two are located on the east coast and are new to the programme. The four-star Hyatt Regency Kuantan on the beach at Telok Chempedak (five nights from £1,179pp) and the five-star Tanjong Jara (five nights from £2,039pp) near Kuala Terengganu are expected to twin well with either Kuala Lumpur or Singapore. Also new is Berjaya Tioman Golf & Spa Resort on Tioman Island (five nights from £1,129pp).
Hayes & Jarvis’ Far East Collection is valid for bookings from September 2010 until March 2012. Prices start from £779 per person (departing September 2010 and based on two sharing a room) for a five-night B&B package at Bumas in Sanur, Bali and include return flights from London Heathrow with transfers.
