London, 29 July 2010: Results from a recent Synovate survey for Doro highlighted that still only one third of people aged over 65 actually use the text function on their mobile phones. Doro has addressed this growing consumer need with the launch of its latest mobile device – specifically designed to make texting less taxing.
The Doro PhoneEasy 332gsm is the first easy-to-use mobile with fast access to texting via a single keystroke. As such it makes texting much easier for people who may find it difficult to send text messages – particularly those with sight impairment, or limited dexterity.
Chris Millington, MD Doro UK, said: “Our research shows that many mature mobile phone users find it exceptionally hard to navigate the small buttons and tiny text within the menus of mainstream mobiles. We’ve consequently made sure that the texting function on this handset is as easy-to-use as possible. Text messages are the single most personal form of communication, second only to voice, and this phone will better enable the senior user to join the ‘text revolution’ and remain better connected.”
The Doro PhoneEasy 332gsm is an easy-to-use candy-bar style mobile with large backlit keypad and contrast-enhanced display. Its text zoom-in functionality provides even larger characters for easier dialling and text messaging.
Other functions include; calendar, date, alarm, separate key-lock and an integrated flashlight. As with all Doro mobiles, the device also features an emergency alarm button on the reverse – which can be pre-programmed to dial a series of up to five numbers in the event of an emergency such as a fall.
The handset has the added benefits of tone control, amplified clearer sounds, vibrating ringer alert, three quick-dial keys, a simplified menu system and the new direct SMS access key - making its overall usability much better.
Doro has recently launched its first UK TV advertising campaign entitled ‘Brilliantly Simple’ - and this new handset makes a special ‘guest appearance’ in the closing frame.
