People who enjoy fireworks should start looking at Berlin hotels ahead of this year's Pyronale.
Taking place on September 3rd and 4th, this event is a major competition in which pyrotechnical companies compete in front of a jury of public figures and fireworks experts.
The contest takes place on the Maifield at the city's Olympic Stadium, with many visitors gathering to enjoy the spectacular displays of colour, screaming rockets and musical accompaniment.
Usually attracting crowds of up to 60,000 people, the Pyronale is an exciting event that should appeal to many holidaymakers staying in the German capital.
Normal tickets are priced at €18 (£14.90) per day, while visitors can purchase a seat in the grandstand and ensure the best viewing points for €38. VIP tickets are also available at a cost of €145 per day.
The official programme for this year's Pyronale is yet to be released, but the 2009 event featured the pyrotechnical talents of groups such as Austria's Feuerwerke Jost.
Having provided fireworks for major sporting events such as Formula One races and German touring car championships, the company put on a breathtaking show for the Berlin audience.
The grand finale saw a display from Germany's Flash Art, who combined elements of fire, water and light in their performance.
As well as the fireworks, the Pyronale could provide Berlin visitors with an opportunity to see the Olympic Stadium, which was built for the 1936 Games.
The Maifield is a huge lawn situated alongside the arena that was originally created for gynamstic demonstrations.
