dn:Director Selected to Cleanse, De-dupe and Validate Data to Improve Services and Comply with Data Protection, Vetting and Barring Legislation
Data Management specialists, Datanomic, today announced that The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has deployed Datanomic’s dn:Director to play an important role in cleansing and de-duping data for its ‘Players and Membership’ database. With over 1.2 million records, dn:Director will provide the RFU with a ‘Single View’ of all validated data, ensuring it is fit-for-purpose improving stakeholder confidence, customer satisfaction and compliance with Data Protection legislation and the Vetting and Barring scheme.
The Rugby Football Union is the national governing body for grassroots and elite rugby in England, with 1,900 autonomous rugby clubs in its membership. The clubs are grouped within 35 Constituent Bodies (CBs), comprised of counties - some individual, some combined - the three armed forces, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, England Schools Rugby Football Union and England Students.
dn:Director will improve the quality of key elements of RFU’s data records such as address, email and phone numbers of database members, including referees, players, coaches, administrators, first aiders and club chairmen, and all affiliated persons associated with the sport. dn:Director will also validate information gained following Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks, which enables organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors to make safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, such as working with children or vulnerable adults. dn:Director’s reporting metrics and dashboard features will be used to deliver higher data quality improvements and reporting on a monthly basis via a number of key admin staff.
Nick Bunting, Head of Public Affairs, Planning, Funding and Resources, The Rugby Football Union, commented, “Following the implementation of a new customer relationship management (CRM) system and consolidation of 23 databases into a single system, dn:Director dovetails well into our architecture and ensures all our data is current, valid and gives us confidence that the data we hold is correct so we can fully utilise it to our advantage as an organisation. Since deploying in March 2010, dn:Director is delivering better visibility and increased accuracy of our data.”
Datanomic’s dn:Director is an easy-to-use data enhancement tool which allows line-of-business managers and data stewards to combine and merge data resources, automatically resolving inconsistencies of format or taxonomy, highlighting gaps or errors in the data, and ultimately enabling them to generate a reliable ‘Single View of the Truth’ against which accurate analysis can be performed.
In July 2010, industry analysts Gartner placed Datanomic in the “Visionaries” quadrant in its “Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools.” Gartner estimates the market for data quality tools was worth approximately $727 million in software-related revenue as of the end of 2009, and is forecast to experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12% during the next five years.
