Music lovers will have more reasons than usual to stay in Perth hotels towards the end of next month as the Parklife music festival comes to town.

Taking place in Wellington Square in East Perth on September 26th, the event - which also calls at Adelaide, the Gold Coast, Melbourne and Sydney - features a bill packed full of big-name indie, dance, electro and hip-hop acts.

Among the stars who will be most familiar to international tourists staying in some of the cheap hotels Perth has available is six-time Grammy award winner Missy Elliott, who has wowed fans throughout her career with a string of hits such as Get Ur Freak On.

A number of British artists are also on the bill, including New Young Pony Club, dance veterans Groove Armada and Let's Dance to Joy Division stars The Wombats, who are set to air their long-awaited new material at Parklife.

International acts such as Soulwax, The Dandy Warhols, Uffie and Yolanda Be Cool vs Dcup are also set to appear.

Tourists who are eager to attend the one-day event can get their hands on tickets from A$145, although a more expensive option - which gives guests the chance to mingle with the stars - costs A$205.

The festival will kick off at 13:00 local time.
