Bandits, Brigands & Buccaneers is an immersive enactment game experience, combining both fact and fiction, whilst presenting a three day programme of wonder filled, swashbuckling, adventure.

Set within a broad sweep of history to include the Golden Age of Piracy – 1680 to 1730; and the Seven Years’ War – 1756 to 1763. Spectators will see: battles, skirmishes, bar fights and street brawls. All staged in the dockside squalors, smuggling dens and pirate encampments surrounding a township, looking to break away from the crown and become an independent Freeport. Other performers sing, stilt walk, dance, juggle and entertain.

The public will experience an unfolding storyline, spontaneously occurring around them. An exciting game, played out between rival pirate gangs and outlaw factions; all trying to smuggle, extort and rob them (of the “game coin” given them on arrival), the traders, and each other. Trying to keep the peace are the Town Guard, Revenue and Militia; with the Hanging Judge presiding over all.

The public will have the opportunity to be involved in treasure hunts, cutlass & pirate skills training, sea shanties & hornpipe, eating, drinking and being merry. If unlucky, they’ll be press ganged into slavery, smuggling and plundering, or even used as bait for sea monsters.
