By adding cloud monitoring to Opsview, users can now implement hybrid, on-demand infrastructures with confidence

READING, UK - Opsview, the open source application and network monitoring vendor, today announced the availability of its latest Opsview Community edition. This 3.9 version of Opsview Community showcases a cloud connector for Amazon EC2, Amazon S3 and Slicehost VPS.

With this new capability, Opsview unifies the monitoring of cloud-based applications and traditional on-premise infrastructures. IT operations teams can now respond to end-user demands more effectively, improve hardware utilisation and lower costs. Further cloud providers will be supported in future releases.

Opsview Community 3.9 also includes a significant upgrade to the platform’s API, giving users full automation of their monitoring processes.

“The most significant challenge for any organisation hosting applications in the Cloud is maintaining service levels,” says James Peel, Opsview Product Manager. “By adding cloud monitoring to Opsview, users can now implement hybrid, on-demand infrastructures with confidence.”

Peel added: “Developing a fully-featured REST API has been essential to meet the demands of Managed Service Providers who are using Opsview to manage tens of thousands of hosts through automated processes.

“We’re excited to be releasing these powerful new features to our Community users first before they are rolled into our certified Enterprise edition in about six weeks time.”
