11th October 2010 London - Hayes & Jarvis have agreed to sponsor the Best Green International Campaign Category for the second year running at the 5th global Green Awards as a reflection of their commitment to responsible tourism.

As part of the Tui Travel PLC, Hayes & Jarvis have demonstrated continuous efforts towards promoting sustainable development through responsible tourism. To ensure the protection of travel destinations, they work with local partners to make a positive difference. They also offer alternative methods of travelling and provide airline options based on their carbon emissions.

One of their more significant contributions to responsible travel include their association with the Federation of Tour Operators, leading the way by auditing hotels through their ‘Travelife Sustainability System’ to select the ones with the least environmental and social impact. Hotels are now measuring their impact and making reductions in the amount of energy and water they use, using locally produced food and making sure the people who work there have fair working conditions. The best performing hotels are given a Bronze, Silver or Gold Travelife Award. Furthermore, as part of their ‘World Care Fund’ project, every one pound donated by clients when booking holidays is equally matched by the company, in an attempt to protect the environment.

For the 2010 global GREEN AWARDS, Hayes & Jarvis are aligning themselves with the ‘Best Green International Campaign’ category, displaying their commitment towards global travel sustainability. Hayes & Jarvis Director Clare Tobin commented: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the ‘Best Green International Campaign’ award for the second year running. The ‘Best Green International Campaign’ category seeks to recognise campaigns championing sustainability to an audience spanning more than one country. Aside from green communications, judges will also be looking at the local implementation of global campaigns. In other words, judges would be keen to see how companies adapt their campaigns to different cultures.

“By recognising the importance of sustainable tourism Hayes & Jarvis confirms its role in educating travellers about the most appropriate forms of travel so that people can continue to enjoy the benefits of travel but with less environmental impact .’, says Iain Patton, Managing Partner of GREEN, producers and founders of the event.

The global GREEN AWARDS seek to recognise and reward creativity and innovation in sustainability efforts, through marketing, media and communications. Now in its 5th year, the Awards have taken a global outlook, by inviting worldwide participation in all its 16 categories. The Awards’ globally renowned judging panel will be looking for a clear demonstration of positive impact using creativity in communication.

The GREEN AWARDS will be held on 2nd December 2010, hosted by celebrity Jo Wood and fashion designer Wayne Hemingway MBE at the Natural History Museum, South Kensington London. Speakers for the gala ceremony include Rt Hon Chris Huhne MP, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, and Eric Falt, Assistant Director-General for External Relations and Public Information for the UNESCO.
