The Institute of HeartMath® Launches the Global Coherence Initiative in the UK
The first initiative of its kind in the history of planet Earth

November 8, 2010 – Royal Society of Medicine, London - The Institute of HeartMath, a world leader in stress and heart-rate variability research (HRV), is launching the Global Coherence Initiative in the United Kingdom

The Global Coherence Initiative

The Global Coherence Initiative (GCI) was launched by the Institute of HeartMath in 2008, to help shift global consciousness from discord to balance, to increase social harmony and to empower environmental responsibility. As part of this initiative, scientific research is being undertaken to monitor the earth’s electromagnetic field, and its responses to both negative and positive mass human emotions. The purpose of this research is to identify the relationships between the earth’s magnetic fields, collective human behaviour and emotion, and planetary changes.

This science-based initiative offers technology and education to help increase individual coherence. Coherence is achieved when our whole being is able to maintain a sustained state of positive emotion. By helping more people to engage in coherent living, the Global Coherence Initiative works to amplify the presence of positive energy on the planet in order to facilitate peace, care and harmony. Building a community of heart-focused individuals and groups will generate crucial data for this important research, as well as providing a platform for resilience and positive change.

In the past, awareness of an interconnectedness between people and the earth and its solar system was strong among many shamanic, indigenous and religious traditions. Most of these traditions believe there is a universal consciousness that pervades and connects everything – the planet, rocks, plants, animals and human beings – in subtle and unseen ways. Many in modern science are now beginning to accept that we are all part of a vast web of connections that encompass not only life on this planet but the solar system and beyond.

Today, the notion of interconnectedness is discussed by scientists and many others who have the challenging task of trying to prove that the interconnectedness of life is not merely a spiritual belief, but scientific fact. Many studies, particularly in the fields of quantum physics and quantum biology, suggest that this interconnectedness exists, but the more challenging task is developing an understanding of what forces mediate such interconnections. To demonstrate and understand how we are all interconnected is of greatest importance because it is critical for the global community to take increased responsibility and care for each other and the earth, which is sustaining life and providing many resources.

UK-based GCI Steering Committee member, Jeddah Mali tells us “The Global Coherence Initiative is the central hub in a global wheel. It establishes the direct link between our physiology and the welfare of the entire planet. The vision of a stable and harmonious human presence upon this planet is not one we can afford to pass up.”

UK GCI Sensor Site

The technology that is able to collect data from the Earth’s electromagnetic field will be increasingly located around the globe. The first two sensors are already up and running in the USA and one in the Middle East. Firle Place in East Sussex, the estate and home of Viscount Gage, has generously been offered to host the UK sensor. Having this additional data will allow the scientists to triangulate the results from the other two sensors, giving us vital information about the effect we are having on the Earth’s field, and how this, in turn, effects all life upon the planet. This study is the first of its kind in the history of our planet. Already the initial data is giving the scientists interesting insights into the link between the life systems of Earth and the planet’s electromagnetic field.

UK Partners

GCI is looking to partner with organisations in the UK who are committed to fostering a coherent human presence across our world. GCI is able to offer a web-based technology platform, backed by training and research, which will focus and enhance the benevolent efforts of the organisation and its members. In this way, working with key organisations, GCI is able facilitate a coordinated approach to bringing enduring peace and harmony to the planet.

About the Institute of HeartMath ®

The Institute of HeartMath,, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and education organization dedicated to teaching the principles of heart-based living around the world and promoting personal and global coherence. IHM, founded in 1991 by Doc Childre, is a world leader in stress reduction, resilience building, and optimal performance research. Through its research and education divisions, the institute has developed practical tools, educational programs and services – collectively known as the HeartMath System – for the mental, emotional and physical benefit of children through seniors without regard to their social, economic or cultural status. IHM research has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals such as American Journal of Cardiology, Stress Medicine, Preventive Cardiology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Integrative Physiological and Behavioral Science and Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine.
