One in five people are booking their holidays just five days before they stay, according to a survey undertaken by hotel booking specialists hotelbook.com.

It is thought that the reason for this is because more and more people are looking for better deals and are waiting until the very last minute to do so.

The results, provided by hotelbook.com, also suggested that many people often book their flights early to secure a lower price but choose to wait until closer to the travel date to secure accommodation at discounted rates.
