London, UK: Business Stream is to use leading cloud-based risk solution, Risk Manager, from Xactium. The deal marks the expansion of Xactium’s application into the Utilities sector.
Business Stream provides water and waste water services to over 96,000 businesses and public sector organisations in Scotland. The company will use Risk Manager to streamline and unify its Risks and Controls activities.
The highly scalable application will encourage a collaborative approach to risk management through its organisation-wide visibility and remote accessibility. It will also promote a better risk culture, improve business efficiency, and demonstrate Business Stream’s risk management commitment to customers and industry regulators.
Risk Manager is built on the award-winning Force.com platform from Salesforce, recently recognised by Gartner as a leader in the Magic Quadrant for Sales Force Automation.
Paula Louchart, IT solutions manager at Business Stream, said: “Xactium’s Risk Manager stood out for us because of the speed and ease of implementation. We were already familiar with Salesforce, so we know that the platform offers impressive business advantages, such as better visibility and effortless reporting. Xactium has really listened to our requirements and delivered a solution that enables us to access and manage our processes in an intuitive and easy-to-use interface.”
Andy Evans, managing director of Xactium, added: “We are delighted that we have been able to provide Business Stream with a risk solution that matches their forward-thinking ethos. It is a very positive sign for us that businesses are now recognising the value of cloud-based risk management. The flexibility and customizability it offers hasn’t been available with traditional systems.”
About Business Stream: A wholly-owned subsidiary of Scottish Water, Business Stream has been formed as an arms-length company with its own board and independent management team. Its goal is to provide a first class service for business customers and respond to the challenge of other established utility companies entering the new, competitive market which opened on 1 April 2008.
Under the Water Services etc.(Scotland) Act 2005, Scottish Water had to split its operation into wholesale (Scottish Water) and retail (Business Stream) units. Although ostensibly remaining a part of Scottish Water, Business Stream is a new business working completely independently of its parent company in order to ensure fair and transparent retail practice under the rules of the new competitive marketplace for business customers.
