itSMF UK has announced the appointment of Ben Clacy as its new Chief Executive Officer from 1st December 2010.

Clacy was previously Deputy Chief Executive, in which role he oversaw the operational management of the itSMF UK. He joined itSMF UK in July 2006, predominantly managing the business development of the organisation, and since 1st May 2010 has also served as Company Secretary to itSMF International.

Chairman of itSMF UK, Barry Corless backed Clacy's appointment saying, "The Management Board took the decision to appoint from within. Ben has shown tremendous flair and aptitude during his time with us. We have given him a fantastic opportunity to realise his potential and are confident in his ability to deliver increased benefits to our members."

The announcement was made at the itSMF UK's 19th Annual Conference, staged at the Novotel London West, where the organisation welcomed well in excess of 800 people to its first conference in the capital.
