Ash Ali, Marketing Director, Videojug

Videojug, the original UK pioneer of ‘How-To' online video has hired Ash Ali as Marketing Director to support its ambitious expansion plans. Ali will oversee all marketing and communications for Videojug, reporting directly to CEO, Tom Laidlaw.

Tasked with aggressively promoting the Videojug brand to both consumers and the trade, his remit will include brand development, PR, search, social media, online marketing, CRM programmes, and partnership and affiliate marketing.

Ali brings over 11 years commercial, hands-on online marketing and web product development experience to Videojug. With particular expertise in PPC, SEO, e-mail, social media, affiliate and partnership marketing; he boasts a strong track record in boosting traffic and revenues for content and transactional websites.

He joins from online takeaway aggregator,, where he was Marketing Director for two and half years driving the brand’s integrated marketing efforts. Just-Eat Group operates in 8 countries, with more than 8,000 restaurants online, over 1.5m takeaway meals are bought through its sites every month. Under Ali’s tenure year-on-year order growth, unique visitors and conversion rates for all increased significantly. Key achievements included devising the brand’s SEO strategy, securing online partnership deals with major brands and newspaper groups including Virgin Media, Nectar, 118 118, Easy Group, Metro Newspaper and Google Maps; as well as creating the first TV commercials and making a top 10 hitwise web site and more recentaly achieving over 145k downloads of the Iphone game, Belly & Brain.

Prior to Ali spent five years as Online Marketing and Product Development Manager at Caroo Media, the online division of B2B media business Tarsus Group. Here he helped significantly drive sales revenue and increase web traffic across the company’s online property portfolio. Key initiatives include the development of an online medical web 2.0 TV channel and new B2B lead generation website; and helping drive international expansion opportunities.
