London, 8th March 2000. European enterprise content management software and
services vendor Mediasurface Limited today announced that James Metcalf has
been appointed as Chief Executive Officer as the company sets course for
further growth within the global e-business software arena.

Metcalf, 47, joins Mediasurface with a pedigree of major achievements and an
in-depth understanding of the challenges of enterprise computing and
e-business strategies attained through senior positions at Oracle, Tandem
and ICL. Most recently, Metcalf was Oracle UK’s Vice President of Sales,
responsible for revenue streams in the utilities, transport, distribution,

"Mediasurface has clearly been the company to watch in the Web applications
software market for some time" said Metcalf. "As Chief Executive Officer, I
plan to take Mediasurface from key industry player to a position of European
dominance and significant global market share. Mediasurface is very
definitely a leading applications company with products and plans for the
long term."

As the latest addition to the already high profile executive management
team, Metcalf’s appointment releases Ben Hayman, Mediasurface visionary and
company Founder, to focus his attentions upon the company’s evolving product
lines and business development initiatives, whilst continuing in his role as
leading company and industry spokesperson.
"This is an incredibly exciting time for Mediasurface in terms of company,
product and market growth", said Hayman "Having built Mediasurface from
initial concept to an international company with a £10m run rate of sales
and a fantastic client base, it is totally the right time for me to separate
the operational activity of this business from the vision. The time to focus
on the evolution of the market, technology and business practice is the
shrewdest way of ensuring that this vision is maintained over the long
Over the course of the last two quarters, Mediasurface have secured business
with leading Media, Publishing, Finance and .com companies including Granada
Media, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, Scottish Amicable and WGSN. The company is
also in the process of completing a strategic third round of investment to
boost its operational and European expansion plans.

The Metcalf / Hayman team represents a considerable force that will drive
the companies strategic positioning and product line evolution to and
through the company’s initial public offering.
