a fantastic way to engage with bright, young graduates

Summer ‘App Camp’ offers seductive prizes for the most innovative iPhone/iPad apps developed by first year students

Belfast - February 16th, 2011 – Belfast-based IT consulting company and innovator Kainos will unveil its first ever App Camp for would-be developers at this Wednesday’s Computer Science Careers Awareness Event at Queens University Belfast (February 16th).

This exciting initiative, the first of its kind, is designed to find upcoming developers with raw talent and great ideas.

Those lucky enough to be chosen for the 8-week summer camp will receive a FREE Apple Macbook and Apple iPod Touch - which they can keep afterwards.

“Open to first-year university undergraduates, this exciting new programme is designed to hothouse the brightest and best new talent,” explains Tom Gray, Chief Technology Officer at Kainos, which will be exhibiting at the careers event.

“We’re looking for new innovation, and see this as a fantastic way to engage with bright, young graduates – to find out first-hand what they can do, while showing them more of what we at Kainos are about and all of the opportunities they could be exposed to by working for us.”

The chosen contenders will have a unique chance to develop highly marketable iPhone/iPad development skills, under the tuition and guidance of some of the most experienced and highly regarded technical experts in the industry today.

The Kainos App Camp is open to any technology enthusiast, regardless of the course they are studying. Chosen contenders will gain full access to all of the skills and experience they need to understand the hardware and software, and a whole range of support to prepare it for public launch - from graphic design to marketing.

At the end of the camp, Kainos will choose an overall winner from the competing apps. All Campers will see their products launched in the official Apple AppStore, with all of the accompanying prestige and publicity!

The Computer Science Careers Awareness Event, at which a range of high-profile local and national companies will be on campus to raise awareness of placement and graduate opportunities, will take place as follows:

When: Wednesday 16 February 2011, from 12 – 2pm
Where: Queens University Belfast - Wireless Technology Suite, 2nd Floor, Computer Science, Bernard Crossland Building, 18 Malone Road, Belfast BT9 5BN
