The demand for contractors has grown for 18 consecutive months and has reached a seven-month high.
In anticipation of the continuing rise, recruitment specialist Xchangeteam has partnered with Crunch.co.uk to bring easy online accounting to its freelance contractor community.
According to recent research by KPMG, contracting demand grew for the 18th consecutive month and overall demand for staff in January grew at the fastest pace since last June. This continued a positive trend from the previous month and growth in contracting job vacancies is now at a seven-month high.
The Crunch.co.uk tie-up will see Xchangeteam, one the UK’s largest independent recruiters across the marketing, media and communications sectors, recommend the accounting services of Crunch.co.uk – which blends an expert team of accountants with easy-to-use online system.
“Crunch.co.uk is a robust and innovative accountant,” said Mike Berry, MD of Xchangeteam. “The freelance and contracting marketplace is changing at rapid speed and we wanted to recommend a service that would be able to keep-up with those changes. The contractor workforce is a key driver of the UK economy and will increase in importance over the next 12 months.”
This is a view shared by the online accountant, which provides contractors and freelancers a tax-efficient solution in their work.
“We have known for some time that the numbers of freelancers and contractors is on the increase,” said Darren Fell, MD of Crunch.co.uk. “People, for either personal or financial reasons, are taking control of their professional lives and this is reflected in the figures from KPMG.
“Working with Xchangeteam offers us an opportunity to add value to an already great service for contractors.”
Fell added: “Many recruiters are, or have been, recommending umbrella firms to contractors as a means of reducing their tax liability. Many contractors have contacted us expressing their unhappiness with the tax inefficiencies of them. They want a service that is as easy as umbrella firms but one with tax advantages.”
Crunch.co.uk combines a team of expert accountants with ridiculously easy-to-use online accounting software. Designed specifically for freelancers, contractors and small businesses, Crunch.co.uk is more than just accounting and is a vital business tool. The accountant and software service is available for a fixed monthly fee of £59.50.
