Lightwood Consultancy Ltd is proud to announce a new app for iPhone and iPad which puts a quirky new slant on the quiz game genre.

Face Rivals is "the silly quiz game with ridiculous consequences" - a unique and irreverent battle of knowledge, where players upload their photographs, then compete to earn the right to attack each others' faces using a library of silly stick-on body parts and accessories.

The comic-style stickers include funny noses, crazy hair, oversized glasses, silly hats and sound effect captions.

Once a winner has been crowned, they have the option of sharing their victory by posting a picture of the loser - looking ridiculous - on Facebook or Twitter.

It takes just seconds to start a new game with a friend, or to find a random opponent on the internet to play with. Each player answers a round of questions in their own time, so casual gamers can play even when their opponent is not online.

At present, Face Rivals includes multiple choice trivia questions on Music, Movies and History, with new categories expected to be added over the coming weeks.

In addition, players can challenge their friends using mental math questions, or use the game to test their vocabulary. SAT students will find questions based on a list of more than 5,000 SAT words, and those studying foreign languages can improve their knowledge of Spanish, French, German and Italian.

"While we wanted to include mainstream trivia topics so that everyone could play, we couldn't ignore the educational value of this game", said Lightwood's Chris Newman. "You can practice your vocab while having fun playing a silly game with your friends."

Face Rivals is available now from the iTunes App Store as a free download. New sticker packs can be purchased within the app from $0.99 (£0.59).
