'Gig of 2010: Club Papaya, Pag Island, Croatia'(Axwell)
'The greatest club around'(Tiesto)
'Croatian Sensation!' (Daily Star)

Croatia is well on its way to becoming 'the new Ibiza' for clubbers and thrill seekers but Papaya has a truly unique vibe.

Relatively unknown to the UK tourist, it has become a 'best kept secret' of the clubbing world.

Situated on the 24 hour party beach of Zrce - on the idyllic island of Pag - the 5000 capacity venue has played host to superstar DJs for nearly ten years and is as regular a destination for the Balkan and Italian clubbing community as Fabric is for Londoners.

Pag off season could not be more of a contrast. With an island population of 7000 residents and a similar number of sheep, the locals make cheese and brew honey schnapps, weave lace or fish in the clear turquoise Adriatic Sea.

From late June til early September Zrce beach becomes THE place to be seen, to show off a perfect figure (in Italian swimwear) and to shake some booty til the sun comes up whilst the likes of Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Paul Van Dyk, Shapeshifters and Tiesto take turntables.

And Papaya's crowd know how to enjoy themselves! From the 4pm 'After Beach' pool party to the headline DJ set at 3am as the morning breaks - swathing the mountains with red light and dappling a natural mirrorball over the sea - they will be dancing, cocktail sipping and waving their hands to the sky.

Thanks to 'reasonably priced airlines' servicing Split or Zadar, Zrce beach is an easy trip for a London clubber. For a more adventurous - and extremely picturesque - alternate route, try flying to Trieste and taking a boat across to Novalja (the closest port to Papaya). Shuttle buses and water taxis service the island also.

Pag has more to offer than simply the ultimate beach club experience. Kite surf, bungee jump or explore the unspoilt mountains and coastlines. And - as any visitor to Croatia will report back with passion - the cuisine is exquisite. Fresh fish, spit roasted lamb, tomatoes grown up in the mountains and hard cheese from the island's sheep all make up the typical Pag diet and meals are relaxed, quality time.

Papaya's 2011 season line up includes:

Hideout Festival (Crookers, Annie Mac, Chase and Status, SMD)
Student Brake Away (car rally through Europe, culminating at Papaya for a 3 day event)
DJ Magazine/MTV Festival (Swedish House Mafia)
Night and Day Festival
plus much more including Shapeshifters, Dirty South, PVD (see www.papaya.com.hr for full listings)
