The Jøtul F162 and F163 wood burning stoves clearly convinced the judges in the red dot design award, one of the most renowned international product competitions. Jøtul has, for the third time, been awarded the “red dot” seal of quality for high design quality by the jury with its panel of highly respected experts.

More than 1,000 guests from the world of design, industry, society and media will celebrate the winners of the red dot design award on 4 July 2011, which takes place in Essen’s opera house, Aalto Theater. The Jøtul woodstoves will then be put on public display during a four-week special exhibition in the red dot design museum. This year, designers and companies from 60 countries entered 4,433 products in the red dot award: product design.

Jøtul F 162 and Jøtul F 163 are two small cast iron woodstoves with traditional yet unique design. The products stand firmly on three legs; a “form and function link” to some of bestselling Jøtul products from the 1970’s as well as the legendary three-legged Ant Chair by Arne Jacobsen. Jøtul
F163 has large side glasses that give a great view to the fire. The glass keeps especially clean because of a special reflective coating that increases the temperature on the inside of the glass. An efficiency of more than 80% combined with very low particle emissions make these stoves some of the most efficient and clean burning stoves ever launched.

The red dot design award dates back to 1955 and is now the world’s largest and most distinguished design competition. It breaks down into the three disciplines ‘red dot award: product design’, ‘red dot award: communication design’ and ‘red dot award: design concept’. There were almost 14,000 entries from 68 countries in the year 2010 alone.
