Woking, Surrey: 14th April, 2011 - An exclusive deal is on offer from Wick Hill resellers, which can save users thousands of pounds. Anyone purchasing a Sipera unified comms security solution can get three months free SIP trunk channel rental and three months free Sipera support, when they also sign up for a Gamma SIP channel for twelve months. Normal call tariffs apply throughout the rental period.

Ian Kilpatrick, chairman Wick Hill Group, commented: “Securing SIP trunks is an important issue for organisations moving to SIP for cost savings. This joint offer from Sipera and Gamma Telecom is a major step in securing SIP deployments and enabling users to migrate easily and safely”

SIP trunking

SIP trunking can save money and that’s why it’s increasingly popular. If you are looking to replace PSTN connectivity, it allows you to take full advantage of VoIP, providing much cheaper local, toll-free, domestic and international long-distance services.

SIP trunks eliminate costly time-division multiplexing (TDM) trunks and gateways, allowing calls to be routed over the carrier’s backbone and use the same IP connection for all their communications.

But the caveat is that you need to secure SIP trunks. With most VoIP systems, the PSTN serves as a barrier between the company and the outside world, minimising some of the risks of attack from the Internet. If SIP trunking replaces the PSTN, then that barrier is removed and your phone system becomes vulnerable to IP-based attacks, through the SIP trunk. Hence the need for security solutions, such as those from Sipera, which deal with these vulnerabilities.

Sipera UC-Sec Appliances

Sipera’s plug-and-play UC-Sec and E-SBC appliances offer comprehensive VoIP and UC security, enabling enterprises to simply and confidently deploy VoIP and unified communications over any network, to any device. The comprehensive security platform enables the safe termination of SIP trunks on the customer premises, with the industry’s most advanced protection against toll fraud, intrusion, unauthorised access and eavesdropping.

IP Direct Connect (Gamma’s SIP trunking service)

IP Direct Connect is the UK’s market-leading SIP trunking service, connecting customers directly into Gamma Telecom’s network using an IP backbone, enabling full PSTN connectivity. The service is available via DSL or Ethernet connection.
Benefits include flexible numbering, multi-site support, free calls between IP sites and lower calls to other destinations, and the ability to utilise existing customer premises equipment.
