20 April 2011: Dr Franz B. Humer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of INSEAD, the leading international business school, announced the appointment of seven new Members to the INSEAD Board this month.

The new members, elected for three-year terms, are: Julie Meyer, Founder & CEO, Ariadne Capital Ltd; Daniel Lalonde, President and CEO, Maison Moët & Chandon; Frédéric Lemoine, Chairman of the Executive Board, Wendel Group; Leonidas Los, Shipbroker, Trimarine Shipping Company; Mika Salmi, Chairman, Sulake; Mirjam Staub-Bisang, Founder & Managing Partner, Independent Capital Management and Andrew Witty, CEO, GlaxoSmithKline.

The INSEAD Board is comprised of 26 internationally recognised business leaders representing all industry sectors and a dozen different nationalities, including such notable alumni as former CEO of Doubleclick and now Gilt Group CEO Kevin Ryan. Over half of the members are INSEAD alumni, and over one fifth are women.

Commenting on her appointment, Julie Meyer said, “The task of preparing business people and industrialists for their work in guiding economies and creating markets is a minefield – it has never been more complex or more global. During my time at INSEAD my thinking was transformed into believing I could make a much greater contribution to the world. I hope to make an impact over the next 3 years as a Board member, continuing to build the very strong chain of people who are part of the INSEAD family and who are committed to thinking globally.”

Julie Meyer was also recently named as one of INSEAD’s top 50 Alumni who changed the world.
