The man with the legs most like asparagus will be crowned King of Asparagus on St Georges Day attended by the Aspara-Fairy. Asparagus fortune telling as well as this most beloved British vegetable in the form of soap, ice cream, pasties and jam are just some of the amazing things in store at this most British of Festivals.
A complete breakdown of times and activities is attached.

10:00 - Official opening by Evesham town crier and Jack Hegarty (Wychavon District Council MD).

10:10 –Great British Asparagus Run – fleet of Morgan Cars take first-cut round of asparagus to Galanos House - a residential poppy-home exclusive to ex-service and Royal British Legion members and based in Southam.

10:15 – Pebworth Morris dancers.

10:30 – Jemima the Asparamancer will perform readings.

11:30 – 1:30 – Antique Roadshow’s Henry Sandon and his Aspara-roadshow

11:30 – Search for the King of Asparagus Commences - men with painted-green legs are voted by the crowd as to whose legs look most like asparagus spears to win the King of Asparagus title.

12:00 – King of Asparagus is announced.

12:15 – 12:30 - Avon Bank Brass Band perform stirring British tines.

12:30 – 12:45 – Fire-eating performance.

2:00 Asparagus race in aid of Midlands Air Ambulance. Asparagus will be taken in an accompanied Morgan car for the donation to the Ambulance.

2:15 – 2:30 Children’s theatre group Vital Statistics musical performances from Wizard of Oz and Bugsy Malone.

Throughout the day Trevor Harrison will MC the proceedings and
St George himself will be present. Various Asparagus themed stalls selling: asparagus soap, asparagus scones, asparagus jam, Gus pies and pasties (new this year).

Evesham Vale Tour Guides will be doing guided tours of Evesham throughout the day.

Kanes Foods will be creating Asparagus themed food boxes.

Eckington Manor will be conducting a cookery demonstration in the evening.

Evesham Art Centre will be promoting their Asparagus themed question time with representatives from BBC Hereford & Worcester.

Evesham Art Group are creating an Asparagus Art Trail.
