Recent research has revealed that consumers are confused about which type of painkiller they should take for which type of pain:

• Over 80% of respondents had taken a painkiller that had not offered sufficient pain relief or relieved their pain for long enough

• Nearly one in four (23%) respondents did not know the difference between paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine

• 44% of respondents would use the same type of painkiller regardless of what type of pain they had
