Camilla Al Fayed, Trustee of the Al Fayed Charitable Foundation responded immediately to a plea to enable Great Britain Deaf Footballer, Daniel Ailey to take part in the 2011 European Deaf Football Championships currently being held in Denmark.
The reason for the plea to the Al Fayed Charitable Foundation was because the UK Deaf Sports were unable to provide financial support as all available funds and resources have been given to the 2012 London Paralympics and Olympics, so they looked to the Foundation to raise the last of the funds needed to get Daniel to the championships.
Camilla’s belief in supporting Daniel has clearly paid off. The team beat Holland, Germany and Poland to meet Ireland in the quarter finals, with Daniel scoring several goals and displaying exceptional talent. Without the Foundation’s help, it has been recognised that the team may not have got this far.
