Verisign is the second ServiceNow customer to win the Innovation of the Year Award and has raised the bar again for future Innovation of the Year submissions

Verisign creates applications to manage data centre power and space in addition to hundreds of thousands of IP and IPv6 addresses

SAN DIEGO – July 20, 2011 - ServiceNow, the creator of SaaS for enterprise IT management, today announced Verisign as the winner of the 2011 ServiceNow Innovation of the Year award. Verisign was one of five finalists to showcase custom business applications built on the ServiceNow platform as a service (PaaS) at the Knowledge11 conference. More than 1000 conference attendees voted on the most remarkable, useful and innovative submission. Verisign received the most votes for using the ServiceNow PaaS to create applications to manage their data centre assets.

Specifically, Verisign created an application on the ServiceNow PaaS to manage more than 125,000 IP addresses and 1800 subnets, including support for more than 7000 IPv6 addresses and 30 IPv6 subnets. Verisign also created a data centre power and space management application built on ServiceNow complete with visualisations of Verisign data centre floor maps and server racks, all of which are tied back to Verisign’s CMDB in ServiceNow.

Verisign is the second ServiceNow customer to win the Innovation of the Year Award and has raised the bar again for future Innovation of the Year submissions. This year Verisign was one of 26 submissions from the ServiceNow customer base featuring work created on the ServiceNow platform.

ServiceNow is the only cloud vendor to deliver SaaS for IT management while providing IT customers the ability to create applications for the business and IT on the ServiceNow PaaS. This unique approach speeds the replacement of paper-based, inefficient business processes and expensive business software with a familiar, consistent and efficient cloud service.

ServiceNow customers, like the innovation of the year finalists Intel, Key Energy, Kimberly-Clark, Qualcomm and Verisign, create entirely new cloud services by using familiar process workflow components to address unique business service request and task-management applications.

The ServiceNow PaaS gives customers access to shared resources such as graphical workflow, notifications, integrations, work queues, reporting, CMDB, SLAs and a business service catalog. In addition to IT management, the majority of ServiceNow customers use the ServiceNow PaaS to automate various non-IT processes such as HR, facilities, billing, finance, quality control, legal case documentation, telecom resourcing, conference and event management, etc.

The ServiceNow modern approach to IT management is drastically different from legacy alternatives.
