"It's not surprising that satisfaction levels are higher for people with superfast broadband - a first class seat is always going to be more comfortable than economy. We need to see more being done to encourage rollout to more households, so greater numbers of people can benefit. We conduct regular research into broadband customer satisfaction and this year we found that broadband speed dissatisfaction was at its highest level for years – a worrying trend.

"It's good to see that more of the population are waking up to the benefits of bundling, with over half now enjoying the cost savings and convenience that this brings. Anyone still taking their home phone, TV and broadband services from separate suppliers is missing a trick, with potential savings of over £200 to be had from bundling.

"Ofcom's report shows that the faster the connection, the more likely the consumer is to download or stream data-heavy files such as HD films and TV shows. This kind of broadband usage will only increase as new and exciting services continue to develop so it is important for customers to consider more than just cost these days. Review your download limit and your provider's fair usage terms and ensure you don't fall foul of either - potentially incurring a hefty fine or a reduction in your connection speed in the process.

"This latest research shows that broadband is unequivocally an essential utility for the majority of UK homes so consumers need to treat it like one and regularly review it in line with their other household expenditure and shop around for a better deal."
