MATRAnet, a proven provider of online security and e-commerce solutions, has been selected by the Internet-based IT products supplier Wstore, to ensure the security of its French, UK, German and Swiss online stores, and to protect data exchanges with its business partners.
The WStore Group, whose mission is to allow business customers to purchase computer hardware and software confidently via the Internet, needed a totally secure e-commerce solution capable of supporting its Europe-wide development strategy.
Each WStore website relies on a permanent flow of information between WStore partners and the customer interface. WStore provides detailed information on the 10,000 or so products listed by its wholesaler partners. Cybersurfers can consult the technical features of products, check compatibility between different configurations, look up prices, promotional offers, product availability and obtain guidance for selection and comparison. Product availability is updated every half-hour and prices are updated every 24 hours. Net users place orders online and WStore guarantees delivery within 48 hours.

MATRAnet tunneling and firewall, integrated solutions for totally secure transactions
- To secure and protect the data exchanged via its online stores, WStore opted for MATRAnet’s M>Tunnel solution, which provides robust encryption capabilities for Virtual Private Networks (VPN) over the Internet, rather than a frame relay solution, which offers limited flexibility and is more costly.

M>Tunnel comprises a standard (56-bit DES) or strong (168-bit triple-DES) encryption module. The level of security achieved by M>Tunnel lies not only in the powerful algorithms used for encryption, but also in the automatic and frequent renewal of session keys and its seamless integration with the M>Wall firewall. M>Wall 4.0 inspects data not only at the IP packet-level, but also through application-level data streams using proxy servers that act as a go-between among users. This inspection software prevents any direct communication between the outside world and an intranet and vice-versa. M>Wall’s new graphical user interface, based on the Java programming language, gives users a clear picture of network security, even in complex configurations. To further simplify administration, the entire system can be managed remotely or locally from any dedicated administrative computer on the network.
