Full UKAS accredited quantification service for analysing asbestos in soils and aggregates saves time and money

03 October 2011 – Environmental Scientifics Group (ESG), the UK’s leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services is pleased to announce that it has extended its range of UKAS accredited services for analysing asbestos in soils, to include aggregates.

ESG now offers a comprehensive three-stage quantification service, using UKAS accredited methods developed in-house, which covers:
1. Screening for the presence of asbestos
2. Initial quanitifcation by picking and weighing
3. Full quantification using Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM)

In addition to this extended service, ESG is UKAS accredited to ISO 17020 for providing management, refurbishment and demolition surveys in accordance with the latest asbestos survey guidelines (HSG 264). UKAS accredited asbestos analysis is also provided in accordance with ISO17025.

Denis Morgan, ESG Asbestos Quality & Technical Manager says “the demand to redevelop brownfield sites and properties means that asbestos analytical services are increasingly in demand. As ESG is now one of the few laboratories in the UK able to offer this extensive service, our customers are well-placed. Using a single provider for asbestos quantification will mean that they can meet their statutory requirements, whilst also saving time and money.”
