Chisel & Mouse, Sussex architectural model-makers, have launched phase one of their collection of handcrafted plaster models of iconic buildings, available to purchase at www.chiselandmouse.com. The models are approximately 25cm high and cost between £59 and £95; they are made of fine plaster and many are finished with etched brass detailing.
Their initial release includes models of:
- Arsenal Stadium (Highbury), East Stand
- The Regency Town House in Hove's Brunswick Square
- Bankside Power Station (Tate Modern Art Museum), Window
- Battersea Power Station, Northern Towers
- Hoover Building, Staff Canteen
- Freemasons' Hall
- Broadcasting House
- Westminster Abbey
The catalogue is initially focused on London, art deco and landmark buildings. New themes and models are under development.
Chisel & Mouse blend technology and traditional sculpting skills. They generate detail, scale and accuracy through the use of CAD and 3D printing in their prototyping. They then handcraft the models in fine British plaster to produce a high-quality finish. The final touch is added with etched brass detailing such as doors and windows.
In the words of the two brothers who founded the business, Gavin and Robert Paisley, "Beautiful models of beautiful buildings: these works of art light up any room. Place these ornaments on mantelpieces, desks, sideboards or bookshelves and share the architects' vision every day".
