• CCTV channel package available through a dedicated FreeviewHD channel
• Multi-year deal to deliver premium Chinese language broadcast content in the UK

London / Beijing, 26th October 2011 - Vision IPTV today announced it had signed a multi-year agreement with China Central Television (CCTV), the largest TV network in China, to distribute three of the network’s channels to UK audiences via the latest broadband connected FreeviewHD televisions and set top boxes.

Vision IPTV is a specialist provider of live broadcast over the internet and has the capability to extend high quality internet based viewing experiences onto connected FreeviewHD devices. This enables international broadcasters such as CCTV, the national TV station of the People´s Republic of China, for the first time to reach expatriate viewers in their living rooms via their FreeviewHD device.

The signing ceremony which took place in Beijing ratifies an agreement which was initiated in London earlier this year. CCTV will have a dedicated channel number on the FreeviewHD electronic programme guide (EPG). Visitors to this channel will be able to access, via a simple on-screen user interface, a package of further channels of live content delivered over the internet via a broadband connection. The launch will incorporate three live channels from CCTV with further channels and content to be added in quick succession.

Mr Zhu, deputy editor in chief, CCTV said, “CCTV has been very impressed with VisionIPTV’s innovative technology and the quality of the team put together to help us deliver this new service in the UK. We look forward to widening our collaboration in the coming months and delivering the best viewing experience we can for our audience.”

John Mills, CEO of Vision IPTV, said, “Impressing a major global media company such as CCTV is a tremendous achievement and this agreement demonstrates the power of our technology. That we have been able to encourage the network to engage in a totally new manner with its audience is a real confirmation of the technology and of the internet as a viable route for international language broadcast into the home.”

Vision IPTV’s online video platform supports the latest FreeviewHD enabled television sets and set top boxes on the market, including forthcoming YouView set top boxes. This will enable CCTV to grow its offering, delivering a compelling and broader mix of new TV channels and services to Chinese speakers in the UK.
