Ready for Winter mobile exhibition

The British Red Cross has begun its first ever ‘Ready for Winter’ roadshow this week in Scotland, with a fully branded mobile exhibition trailer supplied by exhibition and roadshow specialists, Mobex.

Launched on Monday 24 October by the Scottish Government in partnership with the British Red Cross and other agencies, the campaign encourages people, communities and businesses to be prepared for tough weather conditions following two successive severe winters in Scotland.

The branded exhibition trailer is visiting ten locations throughout Scotland over a two-week period offering simple advice on gathering some essential things in place in order to be prepared for winter. Special ‘grab bags’ will be given to people at the roadshow in which they can store their emergency kit and also a few handy items should they find themselves stranded at home, or on the move.

A survey into the emergency preparedness levels in Scotland commissioned in May indicated that three out of every five individuals questioned said they did not feel properly prepared for periods of weather like heavy snow, a prolonged freeze or flooding.

British Red Cross in Scotland Director Norman McKinley said: “The roadshow is an ideal opportunity for people to come along and gain some handy tips and advice ahead of any severe weather this year.

Many thousands of people were affected by last year’s severe weather when it struck quickly and caused major disruption. By visiting the roadshow, individuals can be reassured about how to stay safe in an emergency and we have lots of free advice and practical information on offer.”

Mobex Scotland General Manager Stephen Cameron said: “Having started in Edinburgh on Friday 21 October, the roadshow is having a great impact so far and we’re delighted to be working from our office in Scotland to support the British Red Cross and the Scottish Government. We have worked on many similar campaigns to deliver important safety messages and we know just how effective this method of community engagement is.”
