This autumn will see a number of enhancements to the service MyBuilder offers its members.

As of 1st November, MyBuilder trade members will now be charged based on a shortlist fee of between £1 and £25 per job, depending on the value and type of work. This fee will be visible on every job upfront and is only generated when a homeowner returns to the site to actively shortlist the tradesmen they like. This process actively eliminates time wasters – MyBuilder also verifies customer phone numbers to allow tradesmen to make contact direct. Once a homeowner has expressed interest in a job and has then subsequently been added to the job poster’s shortlist, the small shortlist fee will be payable.

According to Ryan Notz, CEO of MyBuilder, “We’ve improved the system to allow us to more effectively assess how serious a customer is before the tradesman even becomes involved, saving them time and generating more effective leads. There are also a small proportion of members who work outside of the site to agree jobs – they will now need to pay in the same way as other members. We believe this makes our service fairer to everyone”.

MyBuilder is also investing hard in maximising membership benefits in terms of site exposure and job post generation, including a national TV advertising campaign on Channel 4 and an ongoing national PR campaign aimed at generating more homeowner job posts on the site. As a result, is working alongside TV production companies to source trades people for forthcoming home improvement TV series’ on Channel 4 and UKTV Home. These opportunities will generate great exposure for the site, the tradesmen and women involved and offer up additional opportunities to promote the case studies and experts in the national press.

The modern tradesman will recognise the importance of digital media. MyBuilder works hard to ensure that its members’ profiles continually rank very high on search engines like Google. This is important to ensure customers can easily find trades people online but also because they trust in the credibility of these profile pages as they carry verified information such as customer feedback and insurance details.
