Gorillas descend upon London for the INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™
LONDON Date - 24th November : The INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™, a global programme that recognises inspiring, innovative and creative approaches to sustainability, today organised for a group of enthusiastic volunteers in gorilla suits to descend upon various landmarks in London in an effort to raise awareness of UNEP’s ‘Year of The Forest’, the theme for this year’s gala ceremony, which concludes tomorrow on the 24th of November at the Natural History Museum.
In its 6th year, the Royal Society of Arts accredited environmental awards scheme looks to showcase those organisations which are demonstrating stellar best practice and setting the industry benchmark for sustainability that can inspire organisations, governments and citizens across geographic boundaries. Following on from the ‘business is changing’ campaign, projecting onto famous landmarks earlier this week, the unique gorilla ‘guerrilla’ marketing strategy was deployed to draw attention to the issues threatening our forests worldwide. Forests provide the unique ecosystems for many endangered animals, including mountain gorillas, and the stunt aimed to inspire the general public and businesses to address these issues by changing the way they perceive our natural world.
The gorillas roamed from Tower Bridge to Trafalgar Square, Bank of England and St Pauls, causing mischief and drumming up interest for gala extravaganza that will be taking place at the National History Museum tomorrow evening. The ceremony will be following the theme of ‘Year of the Forest’ closely and guests can look forward to catch another glance of the gorilla’s tomorrow evening along with a wide range of surprises.
