Stuck on a Christmas gift idea for that friend who has everything? Then why not buy them the gift of their very own colour whilst raising crucial funds for UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

The new Christmas facebook app from Own A Colour, the global fundraising initiative powered by Dulux, allows the public to buy their friends and family their very own personal colour for a minimum donation of £1 per colour, with all money raised being donated to UNICEF.

Gifting a colour for Christmas couldn’t be easier, simply visit the Own A Colour facebook page and select the facebook friend you would like to give a colour gift to. Once you’ve made your donation, a personalised link is posted to your friend’s facebook wall notifying them of their gift. The recipient can then choose and name their colour and, with over 16.7 million colours still available, they’re sure to be able to find their perfect shade – whether it’s their favourite colour, the colour of their favourite garment or even just a colour just reminds them of something festive.

A number of celebrities have already bought colours for their families to support the initiative. UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sir Roger Moore named a shade of blue ‘Swedish Blue’ for his wife after her homeland, while UNICEF UK Ambassador Jemima Khan opted for ‘CFC Blue’ for her son, who’s a big fan of Chelsea Football Club. Even ex-prime minister, Gordon Brown, has also bought a colour for his wife, Sarah, naming it ‘majestic’.

Michael Newsome, Director of Fundraising at UNICEF UK said, “Each and every colour purchased from the Own A Colour fundraising campaign will help UNICEF to transform a child’s life. So, I urge you to log-on to the Own A Colour facebook app and show your support over the festive period while treating friends and family to the gift of colour.”

Matt Pullen, Marketing Director for Dulux UK, said: “We’re dreaming of a colourful Christmas this year, with the mission of transforming children’s lives. Own A Colour has already captured people’s imaginations across the globe, with over 12,200 colours already bought – 30 per cent of these as gifts for others. We hope that this will continue over the Christmas period… what better gift than buying a friend or loved one a colour which will ultimately help a child’s life?”
