Insight UK, a Fortune 500 hi-tech leader, has been selected by Brother UK as a print reseller partner in the National Educational Printer Agreement (NEPA) framework, which exists to support the printing needs of higher and further educational establishments across the UK. Administered by NEUPC (North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium), the new NEPA framework saw the selection of several manufacturers who were then required to select three resellers to sell their products and provide support for them in the educational market.
“The OEMs selected Insight because we have lots of experience in the education sector, as well as a well-developed supply chain and a substantial inventory so equipment is readily available to end users – we ship within 24 hours,” says Guy Beaudin, public sector business development director at Insight. “A university can call us before 5pm and get the print solutions they need the following morning. It’s all about the service we provide and the scale we have, which enables us to be typically less expensive than competitors.”
As part of the agreement with Brother, which will last for at least two years, Insight will market commodity print schemes for the printer manufacturer’s products, creating a landing page on its website to promote the products, take orders and manage distribution.
Michelle Molloy, senior business manager from Brother, said: “We’re confident that Insight UK will help us to deliver real cost efficiencies to higher and further education establishments when it comes to IT procurement by supplying our effective, reliable printing solutions which include a wealth of additional support, such as a free UK-based call centre, free evaluation units and free helpdesk training and engineer support for higher and further education organisations.”
There are two categories in the NEPA framework – commodity print and managed services. The commodity approach consists of educational establishments buying the products from a reseller, which puts them in place and keeps them there. The managed services proposition sees printers leased from manufacturers with support services charged for directly by the OEM. In addition to Brother, Kyocera Mita and Canon have also selected Insight as their commodity print reseller.
