Having a uniform is a great way for my three-year-old to prepare for life at a big school

A rural Sussex pre school is kicking off the New Year in style with a new school uniform for its 2–5 year olds.

Children attending Blackboys Pre-School now have a new range of customised clothing; t-shirts, fleeces, hats and waterproof trousers and jackets sets are all standardised on royal blue and feature the pre-school’s logo.

The new uniform means children will benefit from the equality and sense of connection and pride that having a distinctive uniform offers. It also gets them used to wearing a uniform from an early age in preparation for primary school and means they are easily identifiable when out and about.

Scott McLean, a parent of a Blackboys Pre-School child, said: “Having a uniform is a great way for my three-year-old to prepare for life at a big school and gives the children a sense of identity to a place they love.”

Jenny Novkovic, Blackboys Pre-School manager said both children and staff were very proud to be seen wearing their new uniform: “Not only does the uniform look great, but it also means the children are warm and dry when they are on the Pre-School allotment next to the school or out and about on trips.”

Fletcher Willcox, a 4-year-old who attends Blackboys Pre School, said: “I love my new uniform. Blue is my favourite colour.”

Even Barnaby, the Pre-School bear has a new t-shirt for his visits to the childrens’ homes. Blackboys Bears are available to buy from the Pre-School (complete with t-shirt, birth certificate and lucky charm) for GBP10. All fundraising proceeds will go towards refurbishing the Pre-School’s outdoor area.
