Wealden has not only helped us to make significant time and cost savings but it has improved our engagement with employees

Paperless payroll processes helps SAGA save time, costs and reduce carbon footprint

Wealden Computing Services has been selected from a number of companies by SAGA, the leading provider of services for people over 50 in the UK, to supply online payslips to its employees. Saga has moved to the new system to increase efficiencies across a constantly changing organisation and reduce its carbon footprint. Since going live with the online Wealden solution in April 2011, Saga has noticed considerable time and cost benefits including two days saved every month by eradicating the need to produce and distribute payslips manually. The organisation has also improved its engagement with employees by providing individual payslips faster and more securely.

Saga was looking to streamline and automate its payroll processes to save time, money and the environment and guarantee fast, secure delivery of personal pay data to their staff in the UK and abroad.

After conducting a thorough evaluation of the marketplace, Saga selected Wealden Computing Services for its outstanding service offering and the strong integration with its existing Wealden payroll system HRPay.

Since going live with Wealden’s Online Payslips, there are now far fewer requests for duplicate payslips. Employees can now log into the hosted electronic payslips service provided by Wealden from the office, from home or when they are on the move by using a secure user name and password to gain immediate access to the system.

Gary Lukehurst, Payroll and Benefits Manager at Saga, said; “Wealden has not only helped us to make significant time and cost savings but it has improved our engagement with employees exponentially by providing individuals with their payslips faster and more securely. This is essential for meeting the needs of a travelling workforce and adapting nimbly to shifting trends in behaviour such as more people using the internet at home. As a large organisation and employer, we also believe we have a duty of care to the environment and spotted the ideal opportunity with Wealden’s technology to move to a totally paperless but equally efficient payroll process.”

Hitesh Patel, Managing Director at Wealden said, “Electronic online payslips are the smart way to deliver, store and retrieve pay data quickly and securely. Furthermore, what’s really unique about our solution is we are system-independent and can provide this service very easily across many payroll systems, taking away the major headaches of software upgrades and eliminating integration issues.”

Feedback from staff has been very positive with most citing speed and security as the biggest benefits.
