London, UK, January 31, 2011 – Vidyo, Inc., the first company to deliver personal telepresence, today announced that Centrotec AG, an energy saving solutions specialist headquartered in Brilon, Germany, has selected Vidyo’s communication and collaboration platform to reduce the cost of travel for executives across its multiple sites, as well as to improve internal communication. Vidyo was selected after rigorous assessments of alternative systems and thorough testing of its ‘proof of concept’ solution.

Centrotec AG is one of Europe’s leading developers of heating, climate control and ventilation technology, that helps save energy and reduce carbon emissions. With extensive merger and acquisition activity over recent years, the company’s offices are dispersed across many different locations and countries. This has led to a rise in travel costs, which Centrotec was keen to reduce. After consultation with Vidyo’s premier partner, Netherlands-based McNolia, and a 3 month onsite trial period during which the Vidyo solution was assessed to ensure it would provide the required level of video conferencing quality and stability across all locations, the Vidyo solution was deployed in August 2011.

Dr. Gert-Jan Huisman, CEO at Centrotec, said: “As our business expanded, we started to look for a video conferencing solution that would help us to reduce not just the cost of travel, but also the time being spent. Vidyo delivers an exceptional quality of service and provides us with a flexibility and stability that will underpin our video conferencing needs for the future. Our executives are now able to communicate instantly and across a variety of different devices, reducing travel time and cost and increasing productivity and efficiency.”

The flexibility and interoperability of Vidyo's groundbreaking high definition, software-based video conferencing solution, is key for business-to-business communications. Because companies use different video conferencing vendors and endpoint devices, the challenge, traditionally, has been interoperability between such a diversity of endpoints. Vidyo’s software based approach offers a solution to this problem by providing high definition video that is interoperable with legacy systems, and accessible via a multitude of off-the-shelf devices, including smart phones, tablets, laptops, desktops and room systems – and over a variety of networks, including 3G, 4G wireless and the public Internet.
“For an organisation like Centrotec, that has offices spread across many geographical locations, Vidyo is a perfect solution,” said Eric Le Guiniec, Vice President and General Manager EMEA, Vidyo. “The proof of concept period was an opportunity for us to really demonstrate the quality and functionality of our technology. Prospective customers want to see how we can make it possible to deliver such high standards, with superb support at such reasonable costs. Centrotec was a case in point. Vidyo Technology, its flexibility, and most importantly the quality of VidyoConferencing(tm), proved itself quickly and Centrotec is already realising cost-saving benefits and improved communications.”
The Vidyo Difference
The Vidyo communication and collaboration platform is software-based, highly flexible and can be easily customized for individual enterprise and vertical market video conferencing needs. The patented VidyoRouter™ architecture introduces Adaptive Video Layering™ technology, which dynamically optimizes the video for each endpoint leveraging H.264 Scalable Video Coding (SVC)-based compression technology and Vidyo’s IP. Adaptive Video Layering technology eliminates the MCU and offers unprecedented error resiliency and low-latency rate matching, thus enabling natural, affordable, high-quality video to work over the Internet, LTE, 3G and 4G networks. The Vidyo platform allows users to quickly leverage the latest hardware innovations and new consumer devices, making it uniquely attractive to partners. Vidyo has been active driving H.264 SVC and SIP videoconferencing interoperability in various standards bodies since 2005.
