LONDON, UK – February 9 – PokerStars.co.uk today announced the addition of four exciting stops to the UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Season 3 schedule. The new destinations are Swansea, Edinburgh, Cork and London.
Season 2 saw the UKIPT become the richest live poker tour in the region, and with the addition of four new stops, Season 3 looks set to maintain this position, guaranteeing £250,000 or €250,000 for every stop on the current schedule (excl. Grand Final).
With the UKIPT experiencing record-breaking field sizes in Season 2 and growing demand for regional diversity, the UKIPT will be heading to Wales for the first time, with a trip to Aspers Casino, Swansea from November 22-26, 2012. The stop will incorporate a £700 + £70 main event and a wide range of side events.
UKIPT President Kirsty Thompson said: “We are delighted to bring the UKIPT to Wales for the first time and further extend the reach of the UK and Ireland’s largest poker tour.”
The UKIPT will also be making a return to Edinburgh and Cork at the start of 2013, and looks certain to emulate the outstanding success of Season 2 events. These events are in addition to the previously announced stops in Galway, Nottingham, Dublin and Newcastle, making Season 3 a bumper tour that is not to be missed!
UKIPT London Main Event
Season 3 of the UKIPT will culminate in a £700 + £70 UKIPT main event in London. This is the first time there will be a dedicated UKIPT main event in the English capital (the European Poker Tour London event doubled as the UKIPT Grand Final in Seasons 1 and 2), and is sure to be a fantastic climax to the third season.
UKIPT 3 on Channel4.com
Poker fans will be able to catch all of the action from the region’s largest poker tour on the Channel 4 website, as comedy writer and TV presenter Nick Wealthall guides viewers through the Season 3 schedule. Highlights from the tour will be available on www.Channel4.com/poker one week after each stop, so poker fans can always keep up to date with the action.
