Bracknell's footbridge on Mill Lane

The 2009 Engineering Excellence Awards, held by the Institute of Civil Engineering, saw Bracknell's footbridge on Mill Lane win the small project award. The £1.2m state-of-the-art footbridge features a 40m bow arch, curved by Barnshaws Section Benders on behalf of Nusteel and Ringway Infrastructure Services National.

The project amounted to £1000 worth of free issue bending, and was completed within a week. Work included the curving of two 457 diameter tubes, which suspend the 3m wide steel deck, along with ramps for the bridge.
