The penultimate day at Cheltenham Festival 2012 has come to an end and the results are in. The Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup site looks back at the St Patrick's Day winners, reviewing any shock performances and seeing which favourites confirmed expectations by placing first. What's more, in preparation for the final day of racing, the site also provides Cheltenham Gold Cup betting tips and information for the day ahead.

Peddlers Cross disappointed many with his bland performance during the Jewson Novices Steeple Chase. However, Sir Des Champ won the race - his strong performance has caught the attention of horse racing professionals, who are now talking about his expected 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup entry.

During the Ryanair Chase, Riverside Theatre confirmed expectations by winning the event. However, this was not an easy victory as Alberta's Run fought for the first position throughout. The horse kept a strong pace and performed expertly, however Riverside Theatre managed to pull in front during the final stretch.

Another favourite who won during St Patrick's Day was Big Buck's. Like Riverside Theatre, the horse was not given an easy time during the World Hurdle as his opponent Voler La Vedette pushed hard for first position during the final stretch. However, Big Buck's fourth time victory in the World Hurdle has earned him a place in the record books as no other horse has ever managed to achieve this.

With the most anticipated day at Cheltenham Festival still to come, the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup site offers Gold Cup day betting predictions for the last afternoon of racing. For the Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle, it seems likely that Boston Bob will win as his form has significantly improved over the season. Another horse who has bettered during the year and looks set to enjoy a win in the JCB Triumph Hurdle is Pearl Swan. The horse has recently outperformed other Triumph Hurdle entrants, suggesting that he is in stronger form than other competitors.

The most anticipated race of the entire Cheltenham Festival is the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup. The race is gearing up to be a tough call between Kauto Star and Long Run. While Long Run won the previous Gold Cup race, Kauto Star has recently outperformed his opponent in both the Betfair Chase and King George VI Chase.
