sports stadia could be the application that sees NFC really take off as a tool for mobile marketing

LONDON, UK (23 April, 2012) – NFC, QR and mobile payment technology firm zappit is participating in the forthcoming mSports Summit in London on 26 April, presenting to key decision makers from marketing and sports on how to engage with stadia through QR and NFC.

zappit CEO Mark Fraser will be presenting alongside Daniel Lewis, Head of Strategy at zappit and both have worked with sports stadia around the world on how to use mobile technology to engage with customers and deliver a richer consumer experience. Mark Fraser believes that sports stadia could be the application that sees NFC really take off as a tool for mobile marketing:

“Thousands of interested, passionate and engaged people, sat in the stadium of a team they follow and love – stadia could almost have been designed with QR and NFC in mind! Whether its ticketing and payments or brands delivering exclusive offers, content or product information, the ability for consumers to get this with a simple swipe of their phone is a powerful prospect indeed for marketers.”

zappit’s NFC and QR Code proposition has recently won the interest of high profile brands like Ladbrokes, Natwest and Mercedes Benz and zappit powered the recent QR and NFC trial in Reading that aimed to increase consumer interaction with brands.

This approach lends itself to sporting occasions and with mobile manufacturers increasingly including NFC as standard in their smart phones, Fraser believes NFC will be a key part of sports marketing this year and beyond:

“2012 is a landmark sporting year for the UK and marketers need to step up and embrace the technologies that will enable them to get closer to the audiences watching sport this summer. We are excited about outlining our QR and NFC vision at mSports Summit and look forward to meeting with the switched-on and tech-savvy marketers that ‘get’ mobile technology.”

zappit’s presentation ‘Engaging with stadia through QR and NFC’ is part of the In-Venue Commerce stream at the mSports Summit, taking place at 12:00 on 26 April.
