Insight is once again awarded a place on the National Framework for the supply of IT Related Accessories and Parts (ITRAP) for universities

Insight, one of the world’s leading technology companies, is helping Britain’s universities to get better value for money from their IT investments by providing a broad range catalogue of IT hardware.

The catalogue, which is bound up with the National Framework for the supply of IT Related Accessories and Parts (ITRAP), has made the procurement process less onerous for universities and colleges, says Roger Talbot, Contracts Manager at Insight. As a result, they have enjoyed greater savings.

“This framework ensures that our HE/FE customers get best value for the largest range of products and it makes it easy for our university customers to comply with EU Procurement Directives,” said Talbot.

The Framework Agreement will, subject to satisfactory performance, be let for a period of two years commencing 1st June 2012, with options to extend up to 31st May 2016.

One of the major challenges for universities is addressing the complexity of EU Purchasing Directives, according to Talbot. Insight has helped universities to meet these challenges, cut through the red tape and allowed technology purchasers to focus on what they are good at.

Insight has been incumbent on this framework or its predecessors for more than 8 years and scored maximum marks on product range in its tender for Southern Universities. It has also scored near the top on Quality and Service – indicating better than average service availability.

The Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC) is an operating unit of Southern Universities Management Services. SUPC awards and manages framework agreements for the education sector and is acting as lead organisation on behalf of its members and also for members of the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC), North Eastern Universities Purchasing Consortium (NEUPC), North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC), the Higher Education Purchasing Consortium Wales (HEPCW) and Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges Limited (APUC).

This framework is for the Supply of IT Related Accessories & Parts, including components, storage devices, cables, displays, network items, peripherals, special needs/assisted technology equipment, pc security items and ancillary/miscellaneous items.

The current overall National Framework in place for IT Related Accessories and Parts (ITRAP), awarded in 2008 has seen a growth of spend from £11.5 million per annum to over £13.2 million (2010/2011) – Insight’s own sales under this framework accounted for around 25% of the entire framework. Overall 198 institutions use the current Framework (2010/2011) – Insight sells to 90% of these today. Higher Education members mostly use the ITRAP Framework, though many other consortia members use it.
