OPENING FOR HOYLAND FUNERAL HOME

A new funeral home for Hoyland has been officially opened by Michael Dugher MP.

The MP for Barnsley East unveiled a commemorative plaque at The Co-operative Funeralcare on West Street on Friday, May 11th.

Michael Dugher MP said: “When I visited the new funeral home I was very impressed with the staff’s professionalism and sensitivity in dealing with people in their most difficult of hours. I remain a strong supporter of The Co-operative and I was delighted to open this new business in the centre of Hoyland, where there has been so much regeneration in recent years”.

Phil Barr, President of the Yorkshire NAFD (National Association of Funeral Directors), attended the ceremony and Methodist minister Kristin Markay and Reverend Richard Parker from St Andrew’s and St Peter’s led prayers and a dedication ceremony in the chapel of rest.

Manager John Sidlow said: “We have a beautiful new funeral home where we can provide a high quality service for bereaved families in Hoyland. I’m very grateful to Michael for officially opening our new funeral home and to the local clergy for leading a blessing of our chapel of rest.
“My staff and I have many years of experience supporting families around Barnsley and I am pleased that once again we have a presence in Hoyland.”

The new funeral home features an arranging room, a large reception area, a chapel of rest and a parking area at the front.

It rejects traditional gloomy and sombre design themes in favour of warm, pastel colours in a bid to make the funeral home more welcoming and less intimidating. Featuring a new lilac and cream colour scheme, all rooms have been decorated in contemporary style, offering more relaxed surroundings for bereaved families.

Based at the funeral home are funeral director Alan Taylor who has 29 years’ experience. He is joined by funeral arrangers Rachel Denman and Kathryn Holt who each have more than six years’ experience in arranging funerals for local bereaved families.
