IBM today announced MQSeries Version 5, the next generation
of its award-winning messaging software, MQSeries*. This new
version offers a variety of enhancements, including
messaging performance up to 10 times faster than previous

A high-performance application integration solution,
MQSeries Version 5 delivers on IBM's commitment to provide
customers with mission-critical networks to improve business
performance and leverage competitive advantage.

"MQSeries Version 5 enables customers to optimise the use
of their existing IT networks by providing secure,
high-speed cross-enterprise integration and reliable
electronic communications with third parties," said Colin
Osborne, IBM business manager for MQSeries.

The new MQSeries version offers the following enhancements:

Performance improvements - new message categories provide
performance improvements up to ten times faster than
previous versions;

Enhanced message distribution - to maximize the amount of
business information that can be carried over the same
network infrastructure;

New Internet gateway - allowing enterprises to reliably
conduct business with their customers and partners over the

Additional developer features - including further language
support for C++, Java and PL/1 and interoperability with
current and previous versions of MQSeries. MQSeries Version
5 also operates with the recently announced MQSeries
automation classes for Active/X**;

Resource co-ordination - extended processing capability to
ensure that data held in databases is always updated
completely - or not at all, if processing cannot be

In addition, MQSeries Version 5 has been given the same
"install and use" characteristics as other IBM software
servers to offer customers easier implementation. The new
enhancements make integration across the enterprise easier,
faster and more effective.

Aubrey Chernick, chairman and CEO of Candle Corporation,

they move to MQSeries Version 5. As a result, Candle will
offer day one support of MQSeries Version 5 for the majority
of its MQSeries solutions, which help customers design,
test, connect, manage and secure their MQSeries

will help customers transition to this new MQSeries

Availability of MQSeries Version 5 is October 24. Prices
start at $3,000 for an Intel-based server.
